Country Friends

Feeling a little yucky today,  Have a feeling I have what Megan had last week when I had to go
get her from school.   I'm hoping it doesn't linger like hers did.

I made this card for the Penny Black and Friends Saturday Challenge.  The challenge this week was to make a card using a patchwork design.  I mounted the gingham squares on the solid red to create my quilt look.  The yellow chicks are a Martha Stewart Punch. Sentiment is My Sentiments Exactly.  Flowers are from a silk bunch pulled from the stems.  I colored this adorable Penny Black stamp image with Copics and distressed the edges.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great Wednesday.  Until later.

BSS - MONDAY CHALLENGE - CLEAN AND SIMPLE

Hello and welcome to the Monday Challenge for Buffalo Stamps and Stuff.  Today's challenge is to make a card, keeping it clean and simple.  I thought we would leave off a lot of the bulky embellishment (that I do love) and make a card without most of them.

I have used papers by DCWV, Linen Closet.  A spellbinders die cut, two Martha Stewart punches and a sentiment stamp by Cornish heritage Farms.  The flower stamp is by Judi-Kins.  Ribbon is from my stash.

Hope you have time to make a clean and simple card.  You could even combine Elisabeth's sketch for this challenge.  It's on the blog at Buffalo Stamps and Stuff.

Have a great Monday. Thanks for stopping by.  Until later............

For Our Girl

Hello, happy weekend!  Hope you get some time to do what you enjoy.  I made this little card for our Granddaughter.  She had a little graduation program at school yesterday.  She is leaving elementary school for middle school.   She received several awards and certificates.  The most prestigious was the Principals Award, chosen by the three 6th grade teachers and the principals, awarded to the student that they believe is the best of the best.  She also received the President's physical fitness trophy for having passed the physical fitness standards set forth, every year since the third grade when they first get tested.  She was the only student to receive the trophy and only a few students before her have achieved this award.  She received awards for  All City Band, Music (she plays the clarinet), among others.  Megan, Nana and Papa could not be prouder of the young lady you have become.  You are going to shine at Middle School!  Enjoy every minute, it all goes by very quickly.

This picture was taken a week ago.  Megan entered an Art contest through school.  The art is hanging in the offices of a local pediatrician's office (just happens to be the doctor the children go to!)  Her art was chosen along with  about 25 other young artist and they framed and hung them all and had a little reception to honor the students.  Here she is standing next to her art.

The image on the card is from Sassy Cheryl's.  The sentiment is by Paperbag Studio.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great Saturday.  Until later...............

A FLOWER FOR YOU

Wow, I'm posting late.  Went out for a while today to run errands.  Hope everyone had a great Wednesday.  It is stinkin hot and humid today.  Supposed to get rain tomorrow, so maybe that will cool things down a little.

Today's card is a darling Tilda by Magnolia.  I have used papers from the Mirabelle stack by The Paper Studio.  The wonderful little flowers were a gift from my blogging friend Stephanne.  The lace running down the middle is by K & Company.  The leaves are a die cut by Sizzix.  I used a cuddlebug folder to emboss the mat behind Tilda.  Stickled the flowers with star dust.

I think I forgot to tell you all, but I purchased a Hot Shot Express, the electric one!!  I am loving it!

I'm entering this card into the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge (MMSC59) and

Thanks for stopping by.  Until later...............

Car Ride

Happy Tuesday.  Today's card is for the Penny Black and Friends Saturday Challenge.  The challenge this week is to make a card using embossing.  I have used this new image of the hedgie in the car and then embossed it with a cuddlebug embossing folder and the same for the red mat and corners.  Paper is from the DCWV Green Stack.  I added corners from a punch from Paper shapers.

Going to lunch today with the gals from work to celebrate a belated birthday.  Hope you have a great Tuesday.  Thanks for stopping by.  Until later.............

HOUSE MOUSE CHALLENGE #72-CELEBRATE SOMETHING NEW

Good Monday morning, hope everyone enjoyed Father's Day.  We had excellent weather and were able to get together with our daughter and her family for a picnic.

The challenge this time at House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge is celebrating something new.  Well, I am sure the little mouse is celebrating that his Mom is making his favorite cuddly mouse "good as new".  I have use designer papers by DCWV, craft stack.  The background die cut is a sizzix die.  The flower is made from grunge paper covered with card stock and distressed.  Twine and buttons from my stash.  Added faux stitching to the swirls, also a sizzix die.

Our sponsor this week, Paper Cupcakes, has kindly offered two digital stamps, one your choice and one their choice.  We hope you will dust off your House Mouse, Gruffies, and Happy Hoppers and join us this challenge.

Head on over to the House Mouse and Friends website for some inspiration from my fellow teammates, lots of wonderful ideas and beautiful creations.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great Monday.  Go create...Until later........

BSS - MONDAY CHALLENGE - TAG KIMONO CARD

Good Monday Morning.  Time for another Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Challenge.  Today's challenge is to make a Tag Kimono Card.  I made these years ago from a pattern I got on the old Caroll Duvall show.  I printed the pattern out and when I was looking for something for this weeks challenge ran across it and thought it would be fun to revisit this card

You start with three tags, 1 - 3 1/2 inch tag and two 2 1/4 inch tags.  I covered the tags with designer paper and stamped on them.  You can ink the tags and stamp on them or any other technique to desire.  I ran the larger tag through a cuddlebug folder for texture.  Then you simply add the two small tags upside down (be careful when you are decorating them to remember how they get assembled) just on the edge of the large tag .  Attach any kind of beads or embellishments to gold string or cord and tie to openings on the small tags (sleeves).  Mount to the front of a card.

The sleeve butterfly is a stamp by Great Impressions.  The butterfly medallion stamp is by Rubber Stampede.
The small stamps used are from a wood set by All Night Media.

I sprayed the entire Kimono when I was finished with Sparkly Shimmer Spritz Spray.

I outlined the Kimono with a Krylon Gold Leaf Pen.

Dust off your oriental stamps and give this a whirl.  Hope you get a chance to try this Tag Kimono Card.

Thanks for stopping by.  Until later.............

Red Mustang

It's Friday already!!  Poor Megan got sick at school today so the school nurse called and I went over and picked her up.  Running a little fever and just feeling poorly.  Even though she's 12, they always look so forlorn when they don't feel well.  Called her tonight, but she was still not feeling that well and hadn't been able to eat anything, so probably a trip t the doctor in the morning.

Today's card is for the challenge over at Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge.(MMSC58).  I have used a digital image by Sunshine Stamps, and made a card for my husband for Father's Day.  He drives a Red Mustang, not a '71, but he does love his "STANG".  The papers are from Tim Holtz paper pack.  I used silver card stock and ran it through an embossing folder trying to replicate all those cabinets he has in the garage!!

I love the brads that look like screws, they are from Spare Parts.

Thanks for stopping by.  Until later..............

FLUTTERBY BUTTERFLY

Wow, where did the week go?  It's Thursday already.  Kids will have their final week of school next week, then out for the summer.  Our grand kids are doubly excited, they are going to Disney World this summer.

Today's card is for the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge.  I actually bought this image on a website about a year ago, but found out it was already colored when I downloaded it.  I recently purchased some digital images from Cheryl and found her again in digital form.  I think she is so cute.   The challenge was to make your own flowers as opposed to using like, Prima's.  I made the flowers from a Sizzix die.  I added pearl bead centers and some glitter and glossy accents.  The lattice is ribbon.  Sentiment is by Great Impressions.

Have a great Thursday.  Thanks for stopping by.  Until later..........

Thank Heaven for Little Girls

Hello, hope your Wednesday is going well.

I made this card for a couple that has just had their first baby, a little girl.  I absolutely love this new image.  I recently won a 15% LIFETIME discount on all future orders at PB Stamps at Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge.  I have purchased from Dick before, but I am thrilled to have this discount (forever), just makes me wish I was younger.....hee hee.

The card is for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.  This week the challenge was a sketch.  I have used papers from a girl stack by Me and My Big Ideas that has the most beautiful papers in it.  The image is, of course, Penny Black and the sentiment stamp is Stamp Camp.  Used Martha Stewart lace border punch, Kaiser pearls and a small bow to embellish.

Have a great rest of the day.  Thanks for stopping by. Until later............

Tim Holtz Class Project Finished!!!

Close up of left side.

Completed Project.
Close up of right side.

Hello, here is the completed project from my Sunday class with Tim Holtz.

The kit for the class included all of the background pieces of grunge paper cut and embossed.  We then used four or five different techniques to ink the pieces.  Some are crackle painted, distress inks, metallics, double distressed, stamped over distress inks.  So, because it is a class, and you have a basket of supplies to share, we didn't plan it all out then color up the squares, we just used what colors were available.  After all it is supposed to look like a calico quilt when you finished.

This took us three hours. We began by placing the finished pieces onto an 8x8 piece of grunge paper according to a drawing that was supplied.  Then, the fun began, we opened a large bag of Tim's elements that was in every kit and decorated it as we pleased.  I used a few things from home, but mostly it is what we were given.  Then you just added the hanger.

This would be so fun to make for a friend, a spouse, or a child,  with pieces and pictures from special moments.

I'm finishing up my Grunge Board Book from the other class and when I do , I'll post some pictures.

Thanks for stopping by.  Until later...............

Class with Tim Holtz

Hi, today was my first class this afternoon with Tim Holtz, that is me and 89 other people!!  What a great class,   We made a grunge board book.  It's fantastic, but a lot to do in three and a half hours to put it together!  I didn't finish mine yet, but when I do, you will be the first to see it!  Fantastic class, he is just so personable and funny.  Really well organized and somebody always ready to help if you need it.

Tomorrow afternoon is a four hour class.  I am so proud of our local stamp store owner, Sharon Klima for making this happen for us.  She's the one with the Apron on in the background in the second picture.

On Thursday afternoon and Friday all day, I made 8 cards using all Tims papers and elements to display at the store.  Would you believe I didn't have time to take pictures and show you, so will have to do that after this weekend.

Thanks for stopping by, hoping to be back with a card later.  Until then..........

Tim Holtz Weekend

Hi. Happy Hump Day!  We are so excited here, because Tim Holtz is coming to our local stamps store this weekend.  I have signed up for a class on Saturday and on Sunday.  They are four hour classes.  I have some of his things, so today, I looked his new book over which I purchased yesterday and decided to have a go at a card.  The butterfly is a Sizzix die, designed by Tim.  I cut the underbody on white cardstock, ran it through  a cuddle bug folder and used distress ink to add color randomly.  I then added distress stickles.  Glued the black overlay on top.  Papers, sentiment, the pin, the key are all Tim Holtz products.  The flower is by Prima.

Cool and rainy here today, supposed to rain through the weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.  Until later..........

YOU'RE SO SWEET HM&F #71 CHALLENGE

This is the outside of the easel card I made for our latest Challenge at House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge.

Hi, it's Monday and today is a new House Mouse and Friends challenge. This challenges theme is "Sweets"
I've made an easel card using papers from the DCWV Sweet Stack. Border punches from Martha Stewart. The "SWEET" little Happy Hoppers stamp was stamped twice and cut out. The ice cream cone in the center was cut with the cricut. I ran the pieces through embossing folders. The cone portion was swiped with a brown ink pad and the ice cream portion was highlighted with a white gel pen. The Your Sweet round stamp is form Michaels dollar bin. I placed a button in the center and tied a bow through the button holes. For the inside, I used a yellow round doily and stamped the circle with a Stampabilities House Mouse saying. I cut the ice cream cones from the designer paper. and added a strip of ribbon. Glittered the ice cream cones the bunnies are holding to finish.

This was a fun card to make. Hope you have time to join us this challenge which runs through Sunday, June 20th. Please stop over to the House Mouse and Friends Blog to see the samples from my teammates for so much more inspiration, you won't be disappointed.

BSS-MONDAY CHALLENGE-SPINNER CARD

Hi and welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Challenge. Today's challenge is to make a spinner card. There is a great tutorial for putting this card together at www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/spinner_card/ . I actually cut out the
spinner channel first on my predetermined size card and decorated around it.
The stamped image is by Whipper Stamper. I colored with Copic Markers, cut it out and popped it up on matching gingham designer paper. The border punch is by EK Success. I trimmed the
top and bottom of the card with clear dew drops. The words inside the slot were computer generated to say Swim.....Swim Fast....Swim Faster... The fish was cut from a second stamping of the image and mounted on a small scalloped circle. The spinning mechanism is made with two pennies and a pop dot......so cute. The fish spins along the channel of the slot when the card is tipped.
Hope you have a chance to try making a spinner card. A great card to send to kids and adults alike!!
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day. Until later..............
