Just a note

I just wanted to leave a small note to let you know that I will be missing in action for a while.

On Sunday, June 22nd, it was discovered that my older sister had a brain tumor after a fall.
She had brain surgery on Wednesday, June 25th and we have been staying at the hospital a lot.
This is going to be a long process and three of her four children live out of town.  We are trying to
help her husband and daughter however we can right now along with nurturing my sister back to good health.
I will need some coloring therapy soon though.

BSS Monday Idea - Beautiful Dies

WELCOME TO THE BUFFALO STAMPS AND STUFF MONDAY IDEA.

Today I wanted to share a card that I used two beautiful dies on.

White card base 5x6 inches
A 3 1/2 inch square piece of designer paper cut in half to form triangles for
the corners.  (I used a scrap of green striped paper from my paper pieces.

The flower and Butterfly are dies from Memory Box called Toulouse (98826)
and Lunette Butterfly (98745)
Background paper is a light blue pearlescent piece, cut the same size as
the die cut.  The die cut was cut twice, once with white CS and once
with white.  I cut all the leaves and the under belly of the flower out of the green
and glued it over the white.  I used Flower soft on the flower portion of the white.
The butterfly was also cut from a striped scrape of designer paper.
Tiny white pearls for the body of the butterfly and on the two corners of the card.
White with black dots ribber and bow for the corners.

I absolutely love both of these gorgeous dies.  So many ways to use them.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Have a great week.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - A LITTLE BIT COUNTRY

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

A few weeks ago, I purchased a stamp with a cowgirl on it (StampendousCRW124) Rodeo Girl, so this week, we are going to go a little bit country!

I made this tag.

And I made this card.

And this is an image I found by googling Cowboy boot that I used
to make the card. There are lots of choices. I printed it out, sized it on my printer to a size I liked for a card,
then traced the outline on the backside, because I wanted the boot facing the other way.
I then cut the individual pieces out of card stock and designer papers.

I used the original shape intact, after I traced it on the opposite side
to cut out a card shape on a folded piece of brown card stock.
Line up the edge of the boot on the fold and just enough of it will rest
against the fold to create a card shape.  Then decide what paper you want to
use for your card and cute the six pieces you will need to create
the boot and glue in place.  Fill in the faux stitching where shown on the original.
I sponged Vintage Photo distress ink around the edge of the boot.
Added a metal corner and some Prima Flowers.
Designer paper is from Glitz 6x6 Paper Pack, French Kiss

This is a fun stamp, and I am loving the boot card.  Depending on the size you make, it might take a larger mailing envelope and extra postage.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day.  Until later..........

BSS MONDAY IDEA - Die Cut Inlays

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

This week's idea is Die Cut Inlays.

This technique is shown in a tutorial I found at
http://gailepark.blogspot.com/2014/05/two-tone-inlays.html

Die Used - Cheery Lynn (B117) Fanciful Flourish
Corner Die - La La Land Filigree Corner Die (8008)
Sentiment -Penny Black From the Heart (30-207)
Inside Sentiment - Hero Arts
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - Swiss Dots
Pink, White and Black Card Stock
Card is 41/4x51/2 inches

Die Cuts - Spellbinder's Fancy Ribbon Threader (S5-135)
Mariann Creatable Die - Baby Carriage (210295)
Blue (2 shades) and white cardstock
blue gingham ribbon

Place the main die on the cutting plate, then place the buggy
in the center and cut both at the same time.
Adhere a piece of white paper behind the cutout of the buggy
so you can glue the cutout buggy back into the opening.
I used two colors of blue for contrast.
Any dies can be used for this technique.
Inside sentiment is Hampton Arts (Ps0747)

Hope you have time to make an die cut inlay card.

LIFE'S A BEACH

Hi friends. Wow, it got hot in a hurry here.  High humidity, sticky and hot. Ugh.......

I made this card for the challenge at Craft A Scene.  Haven't joined in their challenge in a while, but let me tell you what inspired me.   Several challenges ago, I entered their challenge with a card I made.
Two days ago, I had an email with a comment on that card from non other than Kevin, the Artist and owner
of Stampscapes.  Now, I am sure that he does not remember me, but I have been lucky to have taken three separate classes with him, three different years, while attending the Adventures in Stamping Stamp Show in Akron, Ohio.  I learned a lot in those classes, and he is a very kind, inspiring Artist who took the time to walk the room and find something encouraging to say to everyone who attended the class.  How exciting to have him leave a comment on my little ole blog!!  The comment you ask......one word, Fabulous!  I am honored, Kevin that you took the time...........

The June challenge at Craft A Scene is "By the Sea"

My completed card.

Closeups

I sprinkled chunky white embossing enamel by Stampendous along the
edge of the sand and the water to simulate the white foam that
slaps against the shore.

Most stamps are Stampscapes.
The seagulls, the whales and the plants in the left corner bottom are not
and the companies that made them are now out of business.
Stamped on White glossy paper with dye ink.  Colored with marvy ink pads
and the sponge applicator by Ranger, or in small spaces, Copic inks.
Bright sun was done by cutting a circle with a punch in a thin piece of paper
and then sponging with inks.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a good day.  Until later.............

BSS MONDAY IDEA - White Embossing on Dark Paper

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

This week's card features embossing in white on dark
colored paper.

Flowers, patterns and textures work best.

The Stamp I used is by Penny Black, Floral Thread (40-135)
Sentiment stamps are both Just Rite Stamps, Large Fancy Sentiments(CR-03815)
Hearts were punched from Marvey Heart punches
Cuttlebug heart embossing folder.
white embossing powder
red embossing powder
Versafine clear ink pad
Dotted red ribbon bow
Spellbinders die, Grand Large Labels (LF-168)
Black and White and Red  Card Stock

Card is a 5.7 inch white card stock base.
Stamped the Penny Black Floral Thread cling stamp on black
card stock with clear embossing ink and embossed with white powder.

Cut the white mat out of white card and embossed.
Using the same size die, I cut a piece of the stamped image
about 21/2-3 inches
Since it had a beautiful unfinished edge on the stamped image, I cut along
the edge for extra eye appeal.
Attached this piece to the bottom of the white die cut.
Ran the ribbon around this piece before adhering it to the black
and tied a simple knot.

The white on any dark paper looks fabulous.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great week.  Until later........
