Di's BIO:  {I have been drawing since a child and studied graphics at College many years ago, I now work as a Medical photographer part time but my love was always drawing. I started cardmaking about 4yrs ago when I bought my daughter a cardmaking kit which we did together, but I’m afraid I got the bug! My daughter preferred scrapbooking. I then started looking online at other blogs and this then became my passion and I loved sharing my cards with like-minded people.  I love stamping and loved finding images, but sometimes I could not find what I wanted so I started to draw myself. This then has become my second addiction and I have never looked back, I love thinking of new images, and its just fabulous to see others take them and make them into beautiful works of art. Long may it continue! }

...AND...
A second prize for a second winner comes from our very generous Teamie and Challenge Host; Tom Bush, who is giving away this Yummy Candy

We love to visit and see what you come up with.  Please join us for this fun challenge.  Lots of inspiration over on the House Mouse and Friends Monday challenge blog, by my talented teamies.....take a look and then get creating!!!

BSS MONDAY IDEA - MEMORY BOX CHRISTMAS DIE

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

On Saturday, I attended a fun class at Buffalo Stamps and Stuff which was
given by Jenny Griffiths featuring Memory Box Christmas Dies.

I have always loved these dies, but the holiday dies are wonderful.
We made a fun Halloween card and three Christmas cards.

Today, I am featuring one of the dies (which was not one we used in the class I took)
but that I completely fell in love with.  It's the Have a jolly Christmas (99016)

To show you how versatile this die is I made two cards, one elegant, and one whimsical.

Same die done two different ways.

Both cards started with the die cut out in white card stock.

Base card is light blue card stock, mat of POM light blue glitter paper and two strips of gold POM glitter paper.  Left this one pretty simple, Just cut a circle to put behind the ornament with the gold glitter paper and
applied clear rhinestones to the snowflakes.

The second card, I wanted to have a whimsical feel to it. Base card is red card stock. I used scraps from
my scrap box of green dotted and red and white striped paper.  I just die cut out the word holly and the holly leaves with the green paper.  Behind the word Jolly I cute a strip of paper.  Cut the ornament out of
blue mirror paper and the snowflake from white.  I used crystals in blue on the snowflakes.  The word jolly is coated with glossy accents for detail,  A strip of rickrack in green at the bottom finishes the card off.

Lots of beautiful new dies in this new line......
Thanks Sharon for bringing in Jenny all the way from California, I loved the class I took and had such a good time with the other ladies

Thanks for stopping by today.
Have a great day.
Until later.............

BSS MONDAY IDEA - Christmas in July in Gold

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Didn't want July to end without a Christmas in July card!  I personally like making Christmas cards year round, so this wasn't a stretch for me.

Today's idea uses Ranger's Ultra Thick Embossing Powder.
It's an old technique, but one I had not done in a long time and
I thought it would make a nice Christmas card.

The pickup truck stamp is stamped into layers of heated Ultra Thick Embossing Powder.

The completed card.

Technique

Cut a panel of heavy card stock (I used white) that will accommodate the stamp you plan on using.
Using a Versamark clear ink pad, pounce the pad on the panel until it is completely covered.
Sprinkle Gold Ultra Thick Embossing Powder over the entire panel and heat with your heat gun.
I suggest you do this in a box because some of the powder is blown off.  Hold the gun a few inches
from the panel to start.  After all the embossing powder is melted, let cool.  Repeat with the Versamark and the embossing powder several more times, until you get a thick layer (I did mine 5 times)  On the last layer,
have your stamp ready at your side, heat the last layer until fully melted, then stamp your image in
the center.  Press the image into the hot EP and leave it sit for a minute.  Remove your stamp.  If  for any reason you are not satisfied with how it stamped, just use your heat gun to reheat the panel and stamp again.
Lastly, I used a stiff stipple brush and some black dye ink to fill in the details of the image, then
using a paper towel on one finger wiped the excess from the top.
Note:  You must use a RUBBER stamp for this technique.
Do NOT use a clear stamp, the heat will ruin it.

Don't have Ultra thick embossing powder, you can use regular embossing powder
, it will just require more layers.

What I used
Base card is white  card stock 5x7 inches
Gold Glitter paper mat is 6 3/4 x 4 3/4 inches
White card stock, run through Darice snowflake embossing folder 43/4 x 3 1/2 inches
Gold embossed panel is 41/2 x 3 inches
Stamp - Pick up Truck, Rubber Cottage (1114FB)
Snowflake dies - Penny Black S1-015)
WOW neutral Ultra Shimmer embossing powder (W502R)
on snowflakes
Gold Pearls - Queen and Company
Stamp on the inside sentiment - Just Rite Antique Christmas Tags One (CR03780)

Hope you have time to try this lovely technique.  Start with a small stamp and panel.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day. Until later...........

UNDER THE SEA

Hi friends, hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

I have been trying to catch up on design team work and work ahead a little, as my dear
sister starts radiation treatments tomorrow and we will be taking her each day.

I wanted to make something just for fun today, and I was inspired to make a tag for the
Tim Holtz 12 tags challenge.  For the month of July, it is all about the sea. I love everything
about the beach and the sea, so this tag was so much fun to make.  Tim's tag has some
great techniques, I especially liked embossing on plastic (he used shrink plastic).

Here is my tag. not going to bore you with the details.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - Just a card

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

First off, it has been several Mondays since I posted here and that is because we had a family member going through a medical crisis and all hands were required on deck!  I'm hoping that all goes well going forward and that the road to recovery will be smooth.

This week's card is just a card I put together today.  I needed coloring therapy after not being in my craft room for nearly a month!  It has one really neat technique,
which I kind of buried with the design, but let me tell you about it.

The orchid mat paper behind the design was made by balling up a piece of
wax paper and dabbing it in Versamark clear ink, then pouncing it on the paper.
Then you cover with clear embossing powder and heat to emboss.
It makes such a nice background.

The rest of the card is simple, but I like how it turned out.

Stamp - Penny Black Cling Set, Delicate Florals (40-103)
Stamped randomly on a four x four inch square.
I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed with clear
embossing powder.  Colored the Fuschia Flowers with Copics.
Cut the four inch square into four 2x2 inch pieces.
Round the corners, except for the left and right top and bottom corners.
Cut four mat pieces from green card stock 21/4 x 2 1/4 inch square.
Round the corners in the same manner.  The card base is hot pink card stock
cut 51/2 x 11 and folded in half to make at 51/2 inch square card.
Stamped the butterflies from an old stamp, colored and cut out and adhered to the corners.
You could also use a butterfly die.
Sentiment is an old  Great Impressions Stamp.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Have a wonderful week.

A HUGE THANK YOU

Dear Friends, I just wanted to take a minute and thank each and every one of you that left me a message, emailed me, and a special thank you to Donna Ellis for spearheading a card drive for my sister.

The past three weeks have been a whirlwind of doing a lot of sitting in the hospital.  It is so very stressful to have a loved one with a medical crisis and not be able to do anything to help except be there.

I am happy to report, that my sister has had major brain surgery, is come home as of Friday, walking, talking and making plans.  She is scheduled to begin radiation and chemo beginning next Monday for six weeks.  We so very much want to express our gratitude for the many friends, family and complete strangers who have walked with us on this journey.

I am also happy to report, that I am going to begin crafting again, and beginning tomorrow I will be posting my usual Monday House Mouse Challenge card, and my Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea post.

Here is a card I made a month ago.  It is a Spellbinder's die called Butterflies (S5-221).
I simply cut it in black, then again in yellow.  I cut the border off and  I adhered the black grid to a Pom Sparkly blue paper, then cut the yellow butterflies out and adhered them over the black. sponged Wild Honey distress ink on the butterflies and some Star dust stickles.

Thank you for continued prayers.

Big Hug
