BSS MONDAY IDEA - Stencil Background

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Stencils are all the rage.  I purchased the Memory Box Diamond stencil a couple of
weeks ago and it laid on my craft room table neglected.  So.....I opened it up and got
to work this week, and found out I loved it!

A close up of the stenciled background.
Click on the picture to get a closer look.

The finished card.

What I used.

Stamp - Hero Arts - Delicate Blossoms Clear Stamp (CL-449
Paper, White card base 5x7, Orange and peach card stock mats, White card stock
Stencil - Memory Box - Diamond - (88522)
Die - Spellbinders - 5x7 Mystical Embrace
Embossing Folder - Darice - Damask
Sponged Edges behind die with Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Frantage Embossing Powder - Shabby Blue Stampendous
WOW Natural Ultra Shimmer Embossing Glitter
Blue Gingham ribbon

How I made this card.

Taped the stencil onto white card stock with low tack tape,
so it stayed put.  Using different colors of blue dye ink and a finger
sponge dauber, I added color to the stencil until I was happy with
the coverage.  Remove the stencil and cut to the size you need for
your card. If you need it bigger, just move the stencil over, tape, and repeat.
I ran a Versamark ink pad around the edge of the
stenciled piece then sprinkled the Shabby Blue Frantage embossing
powder around the edge and heated.
Colored the image and fussy cut it out.  This took time, but it looks so
nice cut out against the stenciled background.  I used Copic
markers to color.  The beautiful Spellbinders die was cut
with white card then sponged with the Versamark ink pad
then sprinkled with WOW Natural Ultra Shimmer Embossing
Glitter and heated.  I only did the edges, as that all that was
going to show on my card.
Run the orange mat through the embossing folder, then sponged edges
lightly with Vintage Photo Distress ink.
Adhere the stenciled piece to the peach mat, the cut flowers to the center
of the stenciled piece.  Tie a bow at the base of the stem of the flowers
around this piece. I glued the stems under the flowers down, then
used pop dots to raise the flowers.  Used foam tape to adhere mat
to center of the die.

I am loving this stenciled background, hope you do too. Can't wait to check
out the selection at the store and get a couple more.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Have a nice week.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - A Slider Card - Are we there Yet.

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today's idea is a Slider Card.

Had not made one of these in awhile.  While shopping at BSS recently, Sharon showed me a new die that makes the slit or channel that you want to slide, and the pull tab and sliding mechanism.
Now, I have to admit the directions are very limited  that come with the die, but they have a video tutorial
on their website with step by step instructions. See link below.

Here is my card:
Click the images to see them larger for detail.

What I used:

White card stock card base 71/2 inches long by 7 inches wide
scored and folded in half
Blue card stock mat, 7 x 3 inches,  centered and adhered to the white
card base
White card stock mat 6 3/4 x 2 3/4 inches.  I embossed
with the Sizzix brick wall AFTER cutting the slider opening
with the CutUps Slider die 057 by The cat's Pajamas.
Because I made a long card, I cut it twice for one continuous
opening, by laying the die down overlapping the first cut by
about 1/2 inch.  The slider opening is about 1/2 up from the bottom
on the white card stock mat.  After you cut the opening
do your embossing.  Now just place foam tape or dots
right along the edge and at the corners.  Use small pieces
so your insert with your message slides through the end opening easily.
Don't forget to leave the end open so your message card will
slide in.  Once you have the mat with the slider in place, attach
one end of the slider mechanism to your image that will slide and
the other end will be attached to the insert, so when you pull the insert
out, your image will ride along the slit.
Finish off your card by attaching the pull tab to your slider paper.

Stamps - Penny Black(4137K)
Sentiment Stamps are Penny Black Special Wishes  Clear Set (30-229)
Cut Ups Slider die 957 The Cat's Pajamas ( remember there is a video
on how to use this die on their website, www.thecatspajamas.net
Sponged the brick wall pattern with light blue die ink
Star Dust Stickles on the balloons and flowers
Colored with Copic Markers

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.  Until later.............

In Sympathy

Hi friends.  Warm and wet here in Western New York.  Keeya does NOT like thunder and lightening, and no amount of trying to reassure her that she is okay would do.  I put her tight fitting T-shirt on and that does help, but she still paces and pants and shakes until it goes away.  This is our second Keeshond that was afraid of the thunder and lightening.  I told Rick we needed to build a soundproof, no windows room in the basement to take her to when storms come up!!!

My card for today is a Sympathy card.  I don't make many of these, I usually buy them, but this friend that lost her MIL over the weekend knows I make cards, and I think she would be hurt if I didn't make her a handmade card.

White card stock base 5x7 inches
mint green card stock mat embossed, mint green card stock die
from Cuttlebug, Anna Griffin.  Oval die Spellbinders.
Rose is an old Stampin" Up stamp colored with Copics
Butterfly is cut from Spellbinders die from the mint green and vellum papers
Pearls form  the body of the butterfly.
Sentiment is a dollar stamp from Michael's

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

When embossing folders came on the scene a few years ago, I could not get enough of them.
I have amassed quite a collection, but for what they add to card making, I think they are the best thing since sliced bread! And you get a lot of bang for your buck!  The texture and patterns give our cards
so much more eye appeal.

This week, I have made three simple cards using various embossing folders.

Sweet

Hi friends.  Hope you're enjoying some Springlike weather where you are finally.  Rain has stopped and birds are chirping.

Today's card is for the May Challenge at Penny Black and Friends Saturday Challenge which this month's theme is "Your favorite Penny Black Stamp".  While it would be very hard to choose just one favorite, I have always loved this sweet young child sitting in the grass with the flower.  I think it is the vintage feel to the stamp that attracts me to it.  Our Mother used to dress us in sweet little dresses and white walkers just like hers.

Stamp - Penny Black
Sentiment - Inkadinkado
White card stock base card, white embossed panel ) Spellbinder's
Cuttlebug die (Anna Griffin)
Doily, scalloped punch and Spellbinders Circle die
Wide satin seem binding bow
