Vintage Penny Black

Hello friends.  I have finally managed to get into the stamp room, clear the dust and create.  Mojo was slow to come back, but I have been on a roll for a couple of days now.  Good to be having some coloring therapy.

I made this card for a little friend who has a birthday coming up in November.  She will be eight years old.  I love Penny Black vintage stamps and have a collection of them.  This one is called Friendly Chat......

I made a hidden tag card.

Card with tag in.

Tag

Card with tag pulled out.

I made this card to fit into the current Penny Black and Friends Saturday Challenge.
The theme is a color challenge using Brown, Blue and White. You have until October 6th
to join in.

Papers are from my stash.  Martha Stewart butterfly punches, Tag stamp is
a dollar stamp from Michael's.  Sticko gems on the corners.  Spellbinders
Happy Birthday Die, and image is stamped on a Spellbinders deckled edged rectangle die.
Background die is Susan Wilson die.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend.  Until later.............

THANK YOU

A note of thanks.

As some of you know, my big sister, Edith, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor on
June 22, 2014.  She endured a 12 hour surgery on June 22nd to remove it, and a long recovery.
Then she began a six week program of radiation treatments and chemotherapy.

During this time, a fellow blogger friend, Donna Ellis posted Edith's plight and requested
that cards be sent on a special part of her blog.

Cards poured in, and each day she enjoyed the lovely homemade cards.
My sister was a former rubber stamper, so she knew the time and love each
card held, and was so overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness and love of complete
strangers, as were all of us.

My sister passed away, September 13th, surrounded by her entire family,
only 84 days after the initial diagnosis.  Sadly the treatments made her
fragile and she got pneumonia and could not fight it.

Since her death, more cards have arrived expressing sympathy and love.

I want to also express my love and appreciation for my House Mouse Design Team
family who have supported me throughout my sister's illness and death and also sent
wonderful cards, prayers, and supported me when I needed it the most.

Cards that arrived since her passing.

Thanks too, for everyone who commented and mentioned that they were
thinking of our family and expressed prayers for my sister.

I could not have imagined when I began this blog in 2008, that
I would make so many new friends and that we would all be so
invested in each others everyday lives.

I am so thankful for each one of you.

Sue

On a light yellow piece of card, with the stencil over it, I sponged

the leaves and butterfly.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - Stencil and Die Cuts

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today's idea is a card,  created using a beautiful stencil and wonderful die cuts.

The Stencil

The dies

The finished card

What I used

Stencil - Memory Box - Snow Flake Flurry 88528
Dies - Cottage Cutz - Reindeer Ornament CCE 186,
Memory Box, Peace Script 98638, Impression Obsession Pine Branch 021-N
Paper - White CS card base 5x7 inch, Glossy CS panel 4/2 x 6 1/2 inches
Medium Blue CS for ornament and scraps of same color for 1/4 inch border on
snowflake panel on each side., and for sentiment die.
Red Card stock for bow on ornament
White CS for pine branch
White Pearl Shimmering CS for behind the ornament
WOW Neutral Ultra Shimmer Embossing Powder
Red Tinsel Embossing Powder for bow (I have had this
in my stash for ages.  You can use Red Stickles instead.

How I did it

On the glossy card stock, center the snowflake flurry die.
Using a large stipple brush and Adirondack Stone Washed Blue ink, I
Stippled all around the die, leaving some white areas around the edges.
Without removing the die, I tapped Versamark clear ink on the die over
the blue ink.  This is so I can then remove the die and sprinkle the panel
with the WOW embossing powder and heat emboss next.

Adhere a panel or  scraps to each side of the snowflake panel with the
medium blue card stock leaving a 1/4 inch border on each side..

Die cut the ornament in medium blue and red.

Cut  the pearl white shimmery paper out, using the shape of the ornament.
Or trace it.  good side down on the back of the shimmery paper then cut out.
Trim to fit and adhere to the ornament back.

Cut just the ribbon from the red die of the ornament.  Tap with Versamark
clear ink and emboss with tinsel red embossing powder or use red Stickles
to cover the bow and let dry.  OR you could cut just the bow using red glitter paper.
Adhere over top of the bow on the ornament.

Cut the Pine branch out using white card stock  Tap with the Versamark and emboss
with the WOW embossing powder.

Adhere all the elements to the card as shown.

LOVE this stencil and the dies together, hope you do too.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.  Until later........
