BSS IDEA - FLOWER LANTERNS

WELCOME TO THE BUFFALO STAMPS AND STUFF IDEA.

I hope you are enjoying the last bit of summer before
kids start to return to school.

This week, I tackled the Flower Lanterns stamp
from Penny Black.  The card I am showing here
today is my third attempt.  But I finally figured it
out.  I stamped the image onto water color paper
using Antique Linen distress ink.  I then
water colored it using various colors of my
distress inks.  Just tap your pad onto your
craft sheet and spritz with water to create
water colors.

Stamp - Penny Black - Flower Lanterns (40-547)
Embossing Folder - Sizzix 3-D Textured Impressions
Basketweave
Candi embellishments
I loaded the brush with dark brown and then
green water color paint and tapped it over
the image to create splatters.
Gingham bow to complete.

Then
I used the same method
of stamping, so you get the detail, but colored

with my Copics.

I think I like the copics the best, but have
to admit that watercoloring is not my talent.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.
until later........

Hi Sue,
I just love both techniques, they are different in so many ways. I think your water colouring is absolutely wonderful. The copic one certainly is brighter but love them both. I have only just today received this stamp in the mail as a birthday gift and love it. Must admit I was a bit 'shy' to colour it but after looking at your results I am eager to give it a 'go'...
have a great week.xx

Sue, The cards are fab. I like both techniques. The bright one really stands out, but the other is subtle, which I also like.

Hope you have a good start to the week. Sue

whoa! Sue, these are FABULOUSLY VIBRANT! Love the watercolor in the first card, with your autumn hues, and the glowing warmth of fall shades - I can almost smell the spiced cider and cool crisp northeastern wind. And then the same image with summer-rich colors in Copics really blew me away, especially with the rich blue summer skies in your frame. Both are lovely - breathtakingly lovely! Thanks for sharing both techniques! hugs, de

Hi Sue, what gorgeous cards I love them both, and so very different although the same image. The watercoloured card is so soft looking, and the Copic colours are so bright and vivid, I'm for the first one more, but really if either came through my letterbox, I'd love them, Kate x

Both of these are beautiful. I love fall colors but I know what you mean about watercoloring. It can be unforgiving at times. [Bunny]
