BSS Monday Challenge-Heart Pocket

Happy Monday Morning. Today's Challenge at Buffalo Stamps and Stuff is to make a card using this cute Heart Pocket. I found the free template on Split Coast Stampers in the Technique Lovers Challenge section. I have included it above.
You can fill the heart pocket with candy, a love note, gift card or anything else you might think of.

I've used paper for the card by Graphics 45. The heart is paper by Anna Griffin. I put scallops on the edges by piecing the edge of a scallop punched circle. You can also use punched small circles cut in half to achieve this look. The Unwrapped Tilda is from Magnolia. The rhinestones are from kaiser.

Hope you have time to play with this little heart. Thanks for stopping by. Until later..........

Magnolia Down Under -You gotta Kiss A Lot of Frogs

Good Morning. Today's card is for the Magnolia Down Under Challenge. The Challenge for this week was to use the sketch provided, and to make a girlie card. As Design Team Members, we also received some printed digital backgrounds from the Cutting Cafe to use on our cards.

The Cutting Cafe is offering three sets of digital printouts to the winner of this weeks Challenge.

My card this week used a really sweet image of Tilda with a crown and holding a frog! I printed the sentiment from my computer. The "Sweet " Oval was cut form the Cutting Cafe's printout.

Background paper is Basic Gray. Flowers and heart and frog are from punches. The heart border is Martha Stewart. I ran the aqua blue paper through different embossing folders. The paper for the base card is from the Glitter Stack from DCWV. I added stickles to the crowns.

This is my last card for the Magnolia Down Under Challenge (as a design team member that is, they aren't getting rid of me completely, I'll be back to play!!!) I want to thank Kellie and all the fabulous girls on the team for asking me to join them this past five months and for welcoming me in. I feel like I have come to know each of you and I sure know a lot more about Australia than I did before I started this journey!! Thanks for taking a chance on a Yankee, I have loved every minute of my time with you.

So, get on over to the Magnolia Down Under Challenge and check out the cards from the Design Team, there are some awesome entries this week, you won't be disappointed. There is a link on the right that will take you right there!
Thanks for stopping by. Until later........

Whisper

Hi. It's finally Friday! And it's colder than all get out here! I have had a couple of emails regarding my new blog header picture. It's a professional photographer's picture of the rapids at Niagara Falls, New York, during a very cold day a few years back. Those waters are super fast moving and are almost as exciting to see as the actual Falls.
Today's card is for two challenges. The Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge (MMSC38)(http://www.priscillastyles.blogspot.com/) and Mo's Digital Pencil Too (www.mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com)
I loved working with this sketch from Midnight Madness. They are offering two sketches now, one plain and one more involved and it's your choice or you can try both! The image is a digital
The challenge at Digital Pencil Too was to use shades of gray. I added just a touch of red to my card to coordinate with the heart on her top. This was fun too, and challenging!
I used assorted papers from my stash. The corners are a punch from SU. The red dots are Martha Stewart. The star burst is a punch. The inside of the easel card sentiment is by Eclectic Omnibus. The red paper is from DCWV Glitter Stack and the border punch is by MS.
Hope you have a great Friday. Thanks for stopping by. Until tomorrow.

You're So Sweet

Hi. Happy Thursday. It was warm cinnamon roll Thursday today (usually donut Thursday, but we switch off to cinnamon rolls now and then) for the kids when I went over to get them on the bus this morning. They were so thinking it was going to be a snow day. It is very windy and the snow we have is blowing around (about 8 or 9 inches) and about three times today a band of snow went over us and just white out conditions for about an hour or so, then the sun came out and it was clear. But that is what winter looks like in our area. Today is the anniversary of the worst blizzard we have ever lived through, so some people are getting together to remember that time.
Today's card is for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. The challenge was to make something sweet. I just received my order of vintage PB stamps about a week ago and I love this bear. Can be used for many occasions, in fact I started out with a Valentine in mind, then switched it to a thank you card.
Papers are by DCWV Animal Crackers stack. I used my nestabilities for the bear and mat. Corners are a punch by paper shapers and the bees on the corners are buttons with the shanks removed. I added stickles to the bees wings.
Hope you are having a great Thursday. Thanks for stopping by. Until later...............

MY LOVE

Hello, happy Tuesday. We have had so much rain the past two days and it got above freezing, so all the snow on the ground melted away. Even the pond ice melted and the water level is even with the top. A lot of water laying around, and now a cold front is expected to come in today and some light snow. Ahh, winter. I'm off to work today and tomorrow.
Today's card is for the Challenge at House Mouse and Friends. The challenge was to make a faux grid. I made mine on DP. I sponged ink on a small heart stencil I made from a punch, on some of the squares, then I spritzed pink from a blow pen over the entire grid. I just bought this cute stamp last week at my LSS. The card is made from CS from Madly in Love stack by DCWV. I used Copics to color. The heart is a Sizzix die.
Hope you have a great Tuesday. Thanks fro stopping by. Until tomorrow..................

BSS-Monday Challenge-Card w/Calendar Bookmark

Hello. Welcome to Monday Morning! Monday is the day I do the Challenge for my local Stamp Store, Buffalo Stamps and Stuff. Today I have worked up a card, with a pocket to hold a matching bookmark, that is also a calendar!!

The card is 5x7 when finished.
Cut your cardstock 7 x 11 3/4 inches
Score in 1 3/4 inches from the right and fold inward
Score at 5 inches in from the left, fold in half
Decorate the front of the card as you like.
I used a hanging heart stamp from Outlines, Paper is My Minds Eye
The 1 3/4 inch fold should be secured just on the top and bottom edges to hold
the bookmark.
To make the bookmark, right click on the calendar above and print target.
Cut out each strip close to the edges. Mount on matching papers, Jan-June
on one side and July-Dec on the other. Slip your finished bookmark
into the pocket and add a sentiment inside (mine is Hero Arts)
Hope you have a chance to try this. Have a great Monday. Thanks for
stopping by. Until tomorrow.....................

Cinema Saturday Challenge - Australia

Hi. Today is the beginning of Challenge # 63 at Cinema Saturday. The featured movie this week is Australia. It's a nod to our Aussie friends who take delight in guessing the movie from the sneak peeks on Fridays and then come up with some really creative cards. So Happy Australia Day to all of you!

I had the extreme pleasure to be a guest designer this week for this challenge. It was so much fun and I want to again thank Brooke and Sankari for welcoming me in. I love this challenge because you can use any form of media to create your card, so it allows me to dig into my vast stamp collection. Also, you can use anything from the movie that inspires you to represent the movie on your card. If you haven't taken part in a challenge before, you should check it out and have some fun. (www.cinemasaturdaycreativechallenge.blogspot.com)

The movie starred Nichole Kidman and Hugh Jackman (ahhh) two Aussies themselves. I chose to highlight the romance between them. Lady Sarah was rich, beautiful and stylish upon coming to Australia. Drover was rough and tumble (and extremely handsome). The stamp image I used is by PostModern Design. I used this image because if you have seen the movie, when he walks in with that white tux, clean shaven, well you know!!! I used decorated Kraft paper as the base for my card and added lacey kraft on the left to represent Lady Sarah and rope edged kraft to the right to represent the cowboy in Drover. The sentiment is from Cloud 9 Simple Thoughts-Love, and it fit perfectly with what I was trying to portray with this card.

Hope you have a great Saturday. Thanks for stopping by. Until later............

The image is House Mouse Design, Happy Hoppers. I colored using Copics. The border punch is Martha and the heart punches are by Uchida. The pink paper is from the Citrus Stack and the heart paper is from the Madly in Love stack by DCWV.
Have a great Friday! Thanks for stopping by. Until later....................

What's Up

Hello. Late posting today and didn't post yesterday despite the fact that I didn't work on Wednesday after all. I just don't know where the time goes. I worked on a card yesterday for this weeks Cinema Saturday Challenge. I won the challenge a couple of weeks ago, so part of winning is getting to be a guest designer for one week. I am so thrilled to get the opportunity to do this, but then you feel like this card should be extra special and I think I was over thinking the whole thing for a while there. Anyway, I submitted my card and I was pleased with the final outcome.

Today's card is for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge (MMSC37) (www.priscillastyles.blogspot.com. They have come up with two sketches, one plainer and one more involved. I chose the second one. The image is by Rubber Cottage, Medina, Ohio. The papers are from the Safari Stack by DCWV. The tiles at the bottom I purchased at a craft show locally. I computer generated the sentiment. I have a stamp that says What's Up that I bought at the same time I purchased the giraffe stamp, but do you think I could find it today, don't you just hate that!!!! The swirls are a sizzix die. I colored the image with chalks.

Hope you had a great Thursday. Thanks for stopping by for a peek. Until tomorrow.....

To My Honey

Hi. I'm back to work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from now until April 15th. So I am sure at some point I will get behind......but will do my best to keep up.
For today, I made a tag for a gift bag for the Challenge at Penny Black. I just ordered some new (old) Penny Blacks and can't wait to show them to you. So darn cute. The Challenge this week was to use Blue and Gold. I have colored this image with Copics and cut it out and mounted it on a gold sparkly tag. I've added some stickles to the little bees wings. I added a big bow to the top of the tag for interest. I sponged the background on the stamped image in blue.
Hope you have a great Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by. Until tomorrow....................

BSS-MONDAY CHALLENGE-SURPRISE INSIDE

Good Monday Morning! Time for the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Challenge. The challenge today is to make this action pop-up card.

This is what the card looks like when it is opened! With the use of clear acetate strips and
the fold of the card, the decoration on the inside stands up when you open the card!

Here's another view, you can see the strips against the black background.

This talented gal has posted a video tutorial so you get to see her make it. It is pretty simple and I love cards that move. Wouldn't kids (and adults) love this idea.

The front of the card is Tilda with cake by Magnolia. The word sentiment is part of a round stamp by Catslife Press. The papers are by Graphic 45. Flowers are Prima, the leaves are a punch. Distressed edges of ovals and used distress inks.

On the inside, I cut clear acetate strips. I used a Martha punch to punch out the cakes. The border punch is also Martha. The inside sentiment is Hero Arts.

This design has endless possibilities! If you don't have a punch for the inside use a stamp and cut the design out. You can have as many or as few strips as looks good to you. I can't wait to make some more of these, so much fun.

Hope you have a chance to play. Thanks for stopping. Until later.................

A Knights Tale Challenge

Hello. Hope you're having a great Wednesday. Today's card is for the Cinema Saturday Challenge. The Movie this week is A Knight's Tale. I didn't see the movie, but now that I have researched it and watched the video highlights, I have to rent it.

I used forest green (no pun intended) for the base card. The gold glittered mat piece is from the Anna Griffin Christmas Stack. I used the stamp of the castle from Beeswax Rubber Stamps. Because a lot of the movie took place in castles. And the stamp of the beautiful horse is by Serendipity Stamps, because horses played such an important part in this tale. The sentiment stamp is by Tim Holtz. The border punch is by EK Sucess and the small rhinestone stars are from my stash.

I have to admit, I had some trouble putting this card together for this challenge. I loved the music from this movie and almost went in a completely different direction.

Hope your day is wonderful. Until later................
