BECAUSE YOU'RE SPECIAL

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.  Windy and Rainy here today, but temps are mild.

Spent some time in the craft room last night having a play with Brusho's ( Paint Chrystals that
are activated with water) that I bought in AUGUST at a Stamp show.

Then a new stamp set from Stampendous by Artist Laurel Burch.   These brightly
colored  images are fun to color in bright fun colors.

For the Brusho's, I tapped off the Crystals in different colors on watercolor
paper with a dry brush then spritzed with a water spray bottle.
The colors burst into bright images of color.  You can dab with a paper
towel to remove some color.  I then used my heat gun to dry the watercolor
paper.  I cut the piece to the size I needed for my card, ran clear embossing powder along
the edge of the top and bottom of the piece  and sprinkled gold embossing
power on and heated.
Mounted  the stamped cats to a dark blue mat, to a mirror gold mat that just
showed on the ends, and finally to a white 5x7 inch card.

Inside sentiment says "Because You're Special"

Time to make dinner, Ugh....
Thanks for stopping by today.
Have a great day.
Until later...........

BSS IDEA - SPLIT COLOR CARD

WELCOME TO THE BUFFALO STAMPS AND STUFF  IDEA.

I was watching some youtube videos by Jennifer Mcguire (love her)
this week and stumbled across this split card.design.  So I thought
I would try it.

Here is a Link to her video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlLgp9xqosU

I used red and white cardstock
Red and white embossing powder
Sentiment Stamp -My Favorite Things - Encouraging Words (C5-77)
Flower Stamps - Penny Black - Delicate Florals (40-103
Red and white sequins
Two white 41/4 x 5 1/2 tent folded cards

I used the Misti so that The stamping was done in
exactly the same place on both the white and red pieces of card stock.

I loved how these turned out, and with the Misti, the process is
really easy.  Watch the video, then  make yourself a couple of
beautiful cards.

S0, I got to thinking, and tried the same principle, with
a die cut.

Royal Blue and White card stock (cut at 5 1/2 by 4 1/4 inches)
Royal Blue and White glitter paper
Thanks die - Memory Box - Script Thanks (98240)
Star die - Spellbinders Nestabilities
We are memory keepers embossing folder
2- 4 1/4x5 1/2 inch white cards

I Cut the thanks die out with white and blue card stock.
I used the Misti, just to measure where it needed to be on
each piece of card stock. ( In exactly the same place)
Adhere the die cut (thanks)  where you want it on your card
(here I placed it about three quarters down on the paper)
the white die cut on the blue
and the blue die cut on the white.
I then cut each piece in half through the middle of the word.
Then just adhere a blue panel and a white panel to
a white card front.
I ran the card stock through the emobossing folder
before cutting it.
Added the stars

Then I got to thinking.........

I centered the butterfly die onto the green and white card stock
and cut it out.  By cutting them both at the same time, you know
they are going to be in exactly the same place on the card stock.
Then cut out two butterflies, one on white card stock and
one on a colored card stock.
I cut the green and white panels (each 5 1/2 x 4 1/4) in half.
On the colored card stock you will need to adhere another piece
of the same color card stock behind it.  Now adhere the pieces
of card stock to your card one white and one colored.
.  Drop each butterfly into the opening
and mark where it needs to be cut lightly with a pencil.
Adhere to your card.  I ran the completed card front
through a Cuttlebug Dots Embossing Folder.
Made "flight" marks with gel pens.

Using the Misti with a stamp is the easiest, but the die cuts
work great using the method I used for the green and white card.

Love the look of this card, hope you do too.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.  Until later........

FRIENDS ALWAYS

Hello friends, hope you are enjoying the weekend.  Sun is shining here and temps are in the 50's!
Highly unusual for Western New York State!

I made this card for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.
I bought this set of Altenew flowers and the matching die cuts
and have only used them once before.  After stamping out the flowers
in a three step process, I went to die cut them and could not find
where I had put the dies.  So frustrating, never did find where they
are hiding, so fussy cut the flowers out.......ugh...

The inside

Stamps - Altenew - Peony Bouquet
Both Sentiment Stamps are Inkadinado
Ivy Die - Sue Wilson-Creative Expressions
Chicken Wire embossing folder - Cuttlebug
Inks  Ranger Distress Inks - Scattered Straw and
Wild Honey
Gold Embossing Powder
Card is 5x7 inches

Made this card for a dear friend who is recovering nicely from
recent surgery.  Flowers always make me feel better!

BSS IDEA - WHEN TO DIET

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Idea.

Hi Stamping friends.  Attended the "Super Bowl Party" at the store
yesterday, and what fun we had, making cards, laughing and making
new friends, and eating all the delicious snacks everyone brought
and the Pizza and Chicken Bites that Sharon provided.  Always
a fun time, thanks Sharon and Debbie for all the work involved in
putting this together.

While shopping after the party, I came across the stamp I
used  on the card for today, and it answers the age old question
of what day to start a diet.

2017 HUG A HEART CARD DRIVE

I am proud to be participating in the
Hug A Heart Card Drive Blog Hop

PURPOSE OF THE CARD DRIVE:
The purpose of this card drive, which runs from 1/16/17 to 2/14/17, is to help collect handmade heart theme cards (non-Valentine’s Day) such as Thinking of You, Hello or Just Because cards for many of the Heart Center patients at Nationwide Children’s Hospital during February’s American Heart Month. Each card you make will bring heartwarming encouragement to all who are affected by heart disease – patients, families, and hospital staff.

THANK YOU” PRIZES GIVEAWAY:

To thank you for your participation and generous gift of cards, Christina has several prize packages to give away. To be considered for the prize drawing, please be sure to include a form with your full name, email address and mailing address when mailing in your box/package of cards.

  • Prize Package #1 (all participants) – everyone that sends in cards will receive a freebie of this Heart Panda digi set by Christina herself!
  • Prize Package #2 (U.S. participants only) – to two random winners, a box of brand new craft goodies, each value $25.
  • Prize Package #3 (International participants only) - to two random winners, a $25 gift certificate to shop at Simon Says Stamp.
  • Platinum package (all participants): to participant with 30+ donated cards, a $50 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamps.
IMPORTANT GUIDELINES FOR CARD DONATIONS
  • Hug a Heart card drive is opens to both U.S. and International participants. Anyone is welcome to help make the cards, including young children and grandchildren.

  • Card Types: handmade cheerful “heart” theme (non-Valentine’s Day) cards such as Thinking of You, Hello, or Just Because cards for children between ages of 1 to 19. As long there are hearts on the cards, it counts.
  • Greetings (Sentiments) on your card front is optional. But if you do include one, here are some suggestions: sending hugs, sending smiles, thinking of you, wishing you a beautiful day, or hello. NO Valentine’s Day greetings please.
  • Inside of cards: Please do not stamp or write inside the card. Keep it completely blank so hospital staff may write a personal message to each individual patient. If using a dark colored card base, please adhere a white or light colored piece of card stock to the inside of card to make it easier for patients to read the hand-written message.
  • Card size: please try to keep it to an A2 size card (finished 4.25”x5.5”).
  • Back of cards: This is completely optional. You may include a label “handmade by + your name + Hug a Heart Card Drive 2017” to the back of your card. It can be a hand-written, stamped or small computer printout label.
  • Please include an envelope for each card. Do not seal the envelope.
  • Please do not use loose glitter as it will get on hands and into eyes.
