Music

Hello. Happy Sunday. It is cool here today with a mild wind. Brr. We attended a family wedding yesterday, and everything was just lovely. Bride was beautiful. Could not be happier for our nephew and his new bride. Today's card is s stamp by Cornish Heritage Farms. It's a collage stamp. I mainly just colored the girl's hair and dress and the words. The scrolls are a sizzix die cut, the fancy border edge is a Martha Stewart Punch, designer papers are by DCWV, La Creme Stack. Have a great rest of the day. Until later......

Candy Store

Hi. Had a surprise visit from a friend last night and ended up going out to get something to eat with them. Carol has not been feeling well for some time, so was so good to see them and have a chance to visit. She seems to be doing much better, so I hope she is on the mend. Today's card are stamps by Art Impressions, Inc. called doorways (www.artimpressions.com) Was a fun card to create, but a lot of cutting out. The brick for the building is an old inkadinkado stamp. There are three different sets in this scene. The door, the window, and the small elements and words.
I love the words! Have a great Saturday. Thanks for stopping by. Until later...............

New Mexico Afternoon

Hello, it's finally Friday. Finally got out and got some hanging pots for the yard. Tomorrow have to get some plants to plant in my boxes on the patio. We have a family wedding on Saturday, and it's taking place in the church where we were married. It will be a walk down memory lane for us. Our nephew is marrying and we just love his fiance'. So looking forward to it. Today's card is a stamp I have had for some time. I stamped on glossy cardstock that I had brayered with a big and juicy ink pad to get the two tone effect of the ground and sky. I then colored with markers. The small insert stamp of the fellow on the horse was a gift from my stamping friend, Cathy in Arizona. She got the stamp on a trip to Santa Fe and has sent it to me! Thank you Cathy, hope you like what I did with it. Have a tremendous day. Thanks for stopping by. Until later..........

Under the Sea

Close up
Stair-Step card view from straight on

Stair-Step Card photo taken from above.

Hi, it's donut Thursday. Today is the day I go over and get the kids off to school and I always take a dozen donuts.
Today's card is a stair-step card that I made for the Magnolia Down Under Challenge. The theme of the challenge is Under the Sea. I color the first two levels like water and the
third level, half water and half sand, which is just white wash embossing powder. The fish, crab, and the birds were colored and cut out and glued to the levels. The plants are made from a punch. Real seashells were added. The Tilda's were colored and cut out. The sitting down Tilda with her feet in the water I placed on the sand and the wading Tilda I put in the second level so it looks like she is out in the water. This was a fun card to create. What do you think? Leave me a comment if you can. Thanks for stopping by. Hope your Thursday is marvelous. Until later.......

Puppy Love

Hi, Happy hump day! Still trying to rearrage things and clean in the stamp room, a never ending project! For friends and family out of town, Rick has moved to the second stage of recovery of his shoulder from a torn rotator cuff. He is now weight bearing the right arm with exercise. The doctor (yesterday) does not want him to return to work until after he sees him June 23rd. Then, he may be able to return to light duty. So onward to month 6 of this journey. Today's card is for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge. The stamp is Magnolia with Puppy and the chair is by Whiff of Joy. The dog bone buttons were purchased at a scrapbook convention. I cut the trim at the bottom to resemble a dog collar. Thanks for stopping by for a peek. Until later......

My sister and brother-in-law are home from Arizona. They went to see my brother-in-law's first grandchild gradutate from high school. And my sister reconnected with long lost cousins who live about 5 minutes from Jim's sons....small world. Good to have them back home and can't wait to hear all about their trip. Today's card is for the house mouse challenge. The challenge was birthday. I made this card from the Monday Technique on Split Coast Stampers. I made them a while back and they were called a swing card. This tutuorial called it a hinge card. It's a cute card and pretty easy to put together. Hope everyone had a great holiday yesterday. Thanks for stopping by. Until later.............

Memorial Day-A Time to Remember

Today, we celebrate Memorial Day. The picture above are remembrances of a time so many years ago, when as a young girl, my boyfriend was drafted into the Army and five months later was in Vietnam.(we married 15 days before he left, we were 20 years old) Thankfully, he returned safe and sound. But, for all of us he left behind who loved him, a black cloud hung over us for the entire time he was gone. Both my Dad and his father who both served during WWII had an especially hard time. I was lonely and scared.
So, today, amidst the hustle and bustle of the first holiday of the season. take a moment to remember all those families that are separated today. How they must go about their everyday lives with the added strain of constant worry. Remember too, those that did not come home, or who are badly injured and struggling to survive, and their families.
Today's card is a Tri Shutter Card. I got the tutorial at http://craftiblog.wordpress.com/2009/05/05/2009-05-05-tri-shutter-card-tutorial-full-card-front/. It's a great card to put together, and it's easy to make. It folds flat for mailing.
In honor of Memorial Day.................Until later......

Dog-Gone Cute

Hello, hope you're having a good Sunday and are able to relax and enjoy some nice weather. Today's care is for the Penny Black Challenge. I love this vintage little guy and his puppy. The challenge was to use buttons on the card. Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by for a look.
Today is the annual dance recital for our granddaughter, Megan. She has been taking lessons for about 5 years and she says she is not going back next year, but she says that every year, so we will see. She certainly has the long, lean body for dance and legs up to her neck. She's going to play soccer for the summer. Break a leg, Meg, Papa and I will be there to cheer you on! Until later...........

Wolf Pair

Hello, and good Saturday to all. Still trying to get the yard in order, worked out there yesterday until I was half dead. I just have the very front of the house left to get in order and plant a few flowers this weekend, then I can go on to maintenance for the summer. I made the card for today for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge. The wolves are a stamp by Coronado Island Stamps. The Indian Stamp on the leaf is a small stamp by Good Stamps Stamp Good, and it says "Man belongs to the Earth, Earth does not belong to man." I stamped the wolves on glossy card stock and colored with Tombow markers. Thanks for taking the time to stop by. Thanks Sue McMahon for letting me know about this challenge. Until later................

Sparkling Falls

Hi, it's finally Friday. And it's a holiday weekend which means an extra day off! Yeah. A few years back, I taught some Stampscapes classes at Buffalo Stamps and Stuff. I have been lucky enough to take three classes from Kevin of Stampscapes at convention. He actually took the time to look at samples of my work that I had brought with me and commented on each one as he looked through them. I hadn't done anything with the stamps in a long time, so decided to pull them out and have a go at it. This is one of his lessons online at www.stampscapes.com. They are very imformative and you can print out step by step instructions. This scene uses 5 stamps. Hope you like it, it's been awhile. Have a great Friday. Thanks for stopping by. Until later...............

POPPIES

Hello. It's donut Thursday. And I have my requests written down so that when I stop to get the donuts, I get the right kind!! It was a big week for our Grandchildren. Megan was given a special honor to attend a week long conference in Washington, DC in the Fall for 5th and 6th graders from all around the states, and Michael (he's third grade) scored a 100% on a standardized Math test, to the utter delight of his Dad, the high school Math teacher. So we are talking especially proud this week. Today's card is Tall Poppies, by A Stamp in the Hand. It's a solid stamp, so I colored with Marvey brush markers right on the stamp, then stamped on glossy card stock. The word stamp is by Inkadinkado. Hope your Thursday is good. Thanks so much for stopping by. Until later...............

Growing Up in the 50's

Hi. Oh my gosh, I was so excited when I found this stamp set! It so reminds me of growing up in the 50's! Doesn't it remind you of the Dick and Jane book series we read in reading class at school? This is a clear stamp set, which I don't use that much, but I have to admit, it stamped beautifully. I stamped the girl, then the wagon, and then you can add any of the other stamps to
the opening in the wagon and it was super easy! I stamped the grass, and used chalks for the sky. The sidewalk is just drawn in and colored. The cherry blossom branch is by Rubber Stampede, and I added the little flowers and distress stickles to make it pop. I distressed the edges to add to the vintage look. If you're a "boomer" or if your Mom is, you gotta love this set.

Rub-A-Dub-Dub 3 Bears in a Tub

Hello. Hope everyone is having a good Monday. Thanks for stopping by. We took my sister and brother-in-law to the Airport this afternoon. They are having a weeks vacation in Arizona to visit Jim's sons, and my sister has reconnected with long-lost cousins after more than 50 years and they are going to have a day together. I am so excited for her, because she has not seen them since High School and they are all a year apart in age. Our cousins are very excited too, so can't wait to hear all the details of their visit. Today's care is for the Monday House Mouse Challenge. It was a layout or sketch challenge and it was a bit of a challenge for me, I changed my mind about 5 times before I finally got it put together. I love the face on the middle bear, it is so precious.(ok I love all their faces). I cut the little duck with my cricut machine.(Doodle Charms cartridge) Let me know what you think. Until later.............

The theme this week was a 1-2-3 Challenge. Had to use three flowers, two papers, and one charm. I stamped the little wedding day couple. Corner punch is by Paper Shapers. Hope you get some stamping time today. Leave me a comment if you can. Thanks so much for stopping in for a look. Until later...............

ALL AMERICAN BOY

Hi. Today, I got an email from Lorraine informing me that I had won the random drawing for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge last week. Wow, was I excited. So, shortly after that I went shopping online. Can't wait to get my stamps. While I was browsing, I saw this Cowboy set from Stampin Up listed for sale on the Simon Says Store site. This weeks challenge is One for the Boys, so since I had this set, I thought I would make a card with it. I stamped with brown versafine onto woodgrain cardstock. I used Stampin Up Chocolate Chip for the card. The stars were cut using a sizzix die then run through the woodgrain cuddlebug folder. Used a piece of twine also. The words are from a word stamp with lots of manly sayings on it by Great Impressions. This Stampin Up set is retired, so if you have to have it, remember it is listed on the Simon Says Store site. Thanks for stopping by. Leave a comment if you can, love to hear what you think. Until later...........

Refrigerator Magnet Project

Hello. I spent some time today making these cute little refrigerator magnets. I purchases the bird shape (made of masonite) at Michaels in a package of 12 for $1.99. The kitten and the puppy shapes are wood shapes from JoAnn's for $ .25 each. A spring type closepin holds a note or recipe, etc.
What you'll need: A piece of decorative paper, the wood, masonite or chipboard shape, a spring type closepin, magnet strip you can cut to size and small stamps.

Trace the shape onto cardstock. Be sure to lay the shape onto the cardstock in the same position you want to glue it on before tracing it or it will be backwards. Cut the shape out and stamp. I also embossed for extra eye appeal.

The magnet strip I have is self adhesive, so no gluing necessary, but if yours is not then glue a cut to fit piece to the top two thirds of the closepin. Glue the closepin in the center of your shape, with the part that opens at the bottom near the edge of the shape.

Here are the finished birds I did.

A puppy, kitten and another bird. I made all of these in a short time. Would be a cute favor.
I took some to lunch with girlfriends today and they loved them. Hope you do to. Leave me a comment if you can. Thanks for looking. Until later...........
