At the Beach

Hi Friends.  Such a nice day today, warm and sunny.  Took a long walk along the
Niagara River today with the Pup.  She met a tea cup something, only about 4 pounds tops, little curly white dog,  Keeya was enchanted by her, I think because she was so little.  Next dog she met was a Great Dane.  He was also young, so they were wanting to play.  The big and the little extremes today.

My card today is for the challenge at Saturated CanaryIt's challenge 42, All Things Bright and Beautiful with an optional color scheme, which I followed also.

I used this darling digi -Toes in the Sand for my card.

I colored the sand then used Fran-tage Embossing Powder.
Two small real sea shells were added and a star fish sticker.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - OMBRE BACKGROUND

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff
Monday Idea
Today's idea is an Ombre background. Ombre is just
a variation in one or two color families from dark to light.

It's popular in clothing right now too.

Here is a closeup of the punched border (Martha Stewart-Embroidery punch)
in five shades of yellow. I started with a piece of card stock (yellow)
5x7 inches. I punched the border from the five colors to fit across the piece of
yellow card stock. Starting with the lightest color, I overlapped the pieces and
adhered them.

I love this bright fun birthday scene by Art Gone Wild (AGC1-2594)

Here is the finished card. After I finished adhering the border pieces to the
yellow piece of 5x7 inch card stock, I finished the top with a piece of designer paper
Basic Gray 6x6 paper pad- Cupcake. And a top border (EK Success) in white.
I matted the image with white then green card stock. I glued a green striped ribbon across, over the paper and the borders, and added a ribbon bow. Glittered pink stars are a Sizzix die. I glued the entire piece to a blank 5x7 white card.

I used borders to create my Ombre background, but you can use punched circles, stars, or anything else you can come up with.

Hope you have a chance to try this Ombre background.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great Monday.  Until later.......

Happy Birthday Granddaughter

Hi Friends.  A quick post to show you the card I made for my Granddaughter's 15th birthday.  Wow, hard to believe she is 15, seems like just yesterday........

She is a beautiful young lady and is an art student, plays the guitar, ukulele, and clarinet.  She also takes ballet. AND she is a good student.  Now if she would just put the phone down for ten minutes and have a conversation and curb her tone with her Mother, she would be perfect.  But then, who of us were perfect at 15!

Card Recipe

Digi by Mo Manning
Spellbinder's die
Music background stamp is Cornish Heritage Farms
Dotted Swiss ribbon from my stash
Candy dots in shiny Silver
Distress inked edges of music
Turquoise card stock base
Distress inked edges of die cut

BSS MONDAY IDEA - FRAME IT

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea
I saw this framing idea on Pinterest and loved it.
A simple card with great eye appeal.
I started with a 6 inch square white card stock card (6x12 inch folded tent style)
Then I stamped the image in the center of the card and colored with Copics.
I actually stamped it again on white card stock so I could pop up the top of the
morning glories. Then, I punched out a 3 inch circle. Using the cut out
blank, not the circle, I centered it on the image and then inked very lightly around the edge using the Ranger sponge applicator and pale blue dye ink.
Next, I cut four strips of blue paper 1inch by 6 inches, and four strips
of white paper (I used card stock) 3/4 inch x 6 inches. I ran the white
strips through the Cuttlebug Scalloped Edge Lace Embossing Folder, lining up
the top of the lace with one edge of the white paper strip. Since there are two lace edges on the folder, you can do two at a time.
Next, adhere the white strips to the blue strips leaving a slight blue border on the
top and bottom showing. Adhere the strips to the card as shown in the example,
one corner goes under and one goes over alternating each corner.
Finish your card by running a line of Star Dust Stickles along the outer edge of the
lace and adding some Queen and Co. rhinestones.
click to enlarge to see glittered edge
The beautiful stamp is a Stampendous Cling Stamp, Morning Glory (CRP185)
I used a Sharpie Poster Paint Water Based Opaque white marker for the
white inside details on the flower. I cut out the extra tops of the flower after coloring them and popped them up on the image I had stamped and colored on the card.
Hope you have a chance to try this framing technique. You can use any embossing folder, or try printed designer paper instead for the top layer of the strips.
Thanks for stopping by today.  Enjoy your day today.  Until later.......

It's a circus out there

Hi blogging friends.  Have my Grandson today, he didn't feel good this morning, so he came to stay with me for the day.  Sounds like a chest cold, which means that in a week or so, his Papa and I will have it too.................

Today's card is for the challenge at Tilda's Town. It's #47 and they want to see Fussy and Fancy or Understaded and Elegant.  I went with Fussy and Fancy.

As soon as I saw this darling Clown Tilda, I knew I had to have her.

Stamps - Clown Tilda and Pup - Magnolia
Elephant, Zebra, Giraff, and sentiment are
from Michael's dollar bin.  Balloon stamp is way old, have had it forever.
Papers-DCWV
Spellbinders die
Sizzix Stars die
Colored with Copics
Lots of stickles
The silver sparkly paper I used for the bib around the
dogs neck is POM.  It is thin sparkly paper, and I love it.
They sell it at Michael's, but my local stamp store also carries it.
The sentiment says It's a Circus Out There!

Hope you are enjoying your day.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Until later..............

House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge - #142

Welcome to a new House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge.

It's #142 and the theme for this challenge, chosen by our Lovely, talented teammate, Lorraine (aka LOLs) is........SPRINGTIME.

What says Spring better than planting!  Used this adorable
Gruffies' stamp on a painted clay pot.  Just inked up the stamp
then stamped it on the pot by rolling the stamp from one end to the
other while pressing down on it.  I used Versafine ink and embossed with clear
embossing powder.  Since the pot is really porous, it took a minute for the embossing to start, but it worked.  You could just stamp with black dye ink without the embossing.

I made a little marker for the pot, using this sweet little
Happy Hopper.  An alphabet stamp was used to print the word.

Here is the finished project.  I added the polka dot band to the top of the pot
and painted the saucer red to match.  I coated them both with Glossy Accents
to protect them from watering.  The beautiful Hyacinth plant smells so-o-o good
when you walk through my Dinning Room. Easy Peasy!
