EAT DESSERT FIRST

Hi, hope you're enjoying your start to the weekend!. Weather is kinda gloomy today, so trying to put some things away in the stamp room...........what a mess! Keeley, the blog dog had a little walk this morning. She loves a walk, but her legs are not as good as they used to be so she doesn't go far, but she loves to go.......

Today's card is for the House Mouse Challenge. Today's challenge is a sketch. I have used papers from Nana's Kids stack by DCWV. This little mouse looks like he's enjoying that blueberry tart! Flowers are silk flowers I have pulled from the branches.

STOP AND SMELL THE FLOWERS

Hi. Hope you're having a great Friday. The sun is shining and the temps are up! Yesterday, I actually went outside and swept the sidewalk in front of the house while Michael skateboarded. They only had a half day of school, so they came here for the afternoon.

Today's card is for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. Because of working, I have missed a couple of these and it is one of my favorite challenges. This is a brand new 2010 stamp. The challenge was to use Spring colors. The papers are from the Linen Closet stack form DCWV.

Flowers are Prima. Sponged grass and sky.

MIDNIGHT MADNESS SKETCH CHALLENGE #45

This is my card for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge this week, as their March Guest.

The stamp is a retired Stampin Up stamp. I colored the image with Copics. Cut the image up according to the sketch and sponged the edges with Rangers new Spun Sugar distress ink. I added designer papers to the top and bottom blocks. Kaiser pearls in the corners. Prima flowers and a bow and charm to finish up.

The matching envelope is from Priscilla's store. The card, even with the flowers sticking up will slide easily in the envelop which is 3/4" thick. No bumps or lumps, I love them. And they go together so easily. I punched the design across the top with a Martha Stewart punch, added the bird, and used the distress ink on the edges. Priscilla's Store is the monthly sponsor for March and she is giving some really great craft items away at the end of the month. BSS-Monday Challenge-Floating Oval

Another Monday already, time flies whether you're having fun or not!!!

Today's challenge for Buffalo Stamps and Stuff is to make a floating oval card (or floating any other shape you wish to use card!) Start with your card base.

I used designer cardstock from The Cafe Mediterranean stack by DCWV to make my base card. Folded it in half so that the printed side was inside.

I then cut another piece of the same cardstock (you could use a contrasting color if you wanted)

slightly bigger than the card front (both length and width). I then cute an oval out of the center of the card, and also in the center of the extra piece. Then line up the cutout portion and trim the edges of the extra piece to fit the front of the card. Set this aside.

Cut a smaller oval that will fit inside the front of the card oval and stamp your image on it and color. You will also need a plain colored oval the same size to put on the back of your stamped oval.

Cut a piece of ribbon or strong string a little less than the length of your card. Center the ribbon lengthwise along the back of the stamped oval and adhere it. Adhere the oval backing so the ribbon is coming out the top and bottom of your stamped piece.

Center your oval in the larger oval on the front of the card and adhere the ribbon to the card front so it floats in the center of the cards oval. Adhere the extra front that you made to the front of the card. That's it. Decorate the front of your card however you want.

That is, of course, Tilda with Shamrocks that is gracing the front of the card. On the inside, I chose a sentiment that would fit behind the oval so it doesn't show when the card is closed.

Shamrocks are a dollar store find from a couple of years ago.

THE BUTTERFLY

Large butterfly stamp is by Me and Carrie Lou, which I believe is no longer in business. I bought this stamp at a garage sale for $ 2.00 last year. I stamped on butter yellow textured cardstock, colored with Copics. Used chalk to highlight the edges. I formed wire feelers because they were too thin to cut out. I sprayed with Sheer Shimmer Spritz by Tsukineko.

Inside I stamped the sentiment and added part of a paper doily and some flowers. Card is made from cardstock from the Mariposa stack by DCWV.

Hello, hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. I have used this weekend to catch up on some stamping stuff, but tomorrow I must clean (I snuck laundry in, in between, whew!). Dog hair and dust have finally reached a point where they are bothering me to look at it!!!!

I am entering this card in the Charisma Cardz Challenge, which is butterflies, I think I have that covered. And Flutterby Wednesday.
