HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Happy Halloween!  When our daughter was a Senior in High School, we hosted an exchange student from Portugal.  We were astounded to find out that they didn't celebrate Halloween.  Then when we went to some gatherings with students from all over the world, we were again surprised to find out that none of them celebrated Halloween!!  Well, she dressed as a smurf (remember them?) and went trick or treating door to door and carved pumpkins and roasted seeds, and wrote home about all the goings on.  She had three younger brothers, and vowed to carve pumpkins on Halloween with them when she returned home.  So to those few of us (US and Canada?) who celebrate the dressing up, giving of candy treats, and all the ghoulish decorations on lawns this time of year, Happy Halloween.  The picture above are my grand kids.  They dressed this morning for a party at church.  She is Iron Woman and he is...........scary!!!

The card today is my last Halloween card for this year, even though I have stamps and digi images I didn't get to use.  The papers and the transparent items are from K & Company.  The witch is cut from the same designer paper stack.  The cupcakes are a stamp from Impression Obsession and colored with Copics.  The sentiment is a stamp from Inkadinkado.

Hope your Halloween was spook-tacular!  Thanks for stopping by.  Until later...............

Awww...your grandkids are darling! You are so lucky! DS just turned 35 yesterday, and DD is 29, and I have no in laws or grandbabies... :( Love your card, too! Happy Halloween back at ya, dear Sue!!! I love this line in your post "We were astounded to find out that they didn't celebrate Halloween", I think it's the use of the word astounded! Reminds me of some experiences I had with Americans when I first came to live in the US 16 years ago, they were quite "astounded" too by lots of things that we did/didn't do in England that they did in the US, I couldn't believe how insular some of these people were! They had this blind belief that just because they did or celebrated something then the rest of the world must also celebrate it. One guy in particular made a huge deal that we didn't celebrate Independence Day in the UK, he just didn't "get" it!! I rolled around with laughter and he got really angry with me which was even more hilarious, and then he snapped "I suppose you don't celebrate Thanksgiving either do you"!! Talk about blinkered, just went to show that he had no idea of the true significance of the holidays he was blithely celebrating. Your post just reminded me of him, haven't thought about him in years!

I was talking to my MIL yesterday, it was her birthday (yes, Halloween!) and she mentioned a tv programme she'd watched last week about the customs of Halloween and it said that it originated in Ireland and was taken to America by the emigrees. Great card, I made one Halloween card this year, my first ever can you believe!! Lol. Love the costumes, hope everyone had fun.

Well, I love our Hallowe'en!!! I enjoy the history behind it and seeing how American history has shaped the festival is intriguing to me. Now, those kiddos look adorable, I hope they had a fabulous Halloween celebration at their church. Sad to see you put away the Halloween stamps and papers but I guess it's time to switch gears, ain't it.... I am going to do a few LO's just so I can keep my goodies out for longer, lol.
